FAQ - Microball answers all your questions:

What is the ideal size for a mixing ball?

The ideal size depends on the specific application. Mixing balls with
a diameter between 4 and 8 mm are particularly common and used in
most applications. Generally, the diameter is usually under 20 mm.

How many mixing balls are needed per container?

The required number primarily depends on the size of the container.
In most cases, a single mixing ball is sufficient. For somewhat larger
volumes, two may be advisable. If you are unsure, we are happy to
provide personal consultation.

Where are mixing balls used?

A typical application for mixing balls is in nail polish bottles and spray paint cans. Without the ball, the pigments inside would settle at the bottom after prolonged standing and could not be fully redistributed by simple shaking. The mixing ball ensures that all components blend evenly and the product is ready to use immediately.

Mixing Balls

Perfect Blending Requires Quality

Mixing balls are essential components in mixing and stirring processes, ensuring the even distribution and homogenization of powders, granulates, and liquids. At microball GmbH, we offer mixing balls in various materials such as stainless steel, plastic, ceramic, and glass, each providing specific advantages for different applications.

Choosing the right ball size and material is crucial for the quality of the mixing process and production efficiency. Mixing balls are used in mixing and vibration systems, where their movement enables gentle yet effective blending of the components.

Regular inspection and timely replacement of worn balls are important to maintain consistent mixing quality and avoid production downtime. microball GmbH is happy to assist you in selecting the optimal mixing balls for your application.

Glass Mixing Balls

Glaskugel der microball GmbH

Glass mixing balls are versatile and stand out due to their
chemical neutrality and high purity. They are lead-free, color-
resistant, and food-safe — qualities that make them especially
suitable for sensitive applications in the food and pharmaceutical
industries as well as in the production of paints and coatings.
Their smooth surface ensures uniform mixing without affecting
the base material. Despite their low density, glass mixing
balls provide stable performance and minimize the risk of
contamination in the product.

Plastic Mixing Balls

Kunststoffkugeln der microball GmbH

Plastic mixing balls stand out due to their low weight, chemical
resistance, and high flexibility, making them ideal for gentle mixing
processes. Primarily used in the coatings, food, and pharmaceutical
industries, they ensure uniform blending of liquids, powders,
and pastes. Their smooth surface and low abrasion rates enable
contamination-free processing — even with sensitive substances.
They are especially suitable for applications where hygiene,
material compatibility, and efficiency are essential.

Stainless Steel Mixing Balls

Edelstahlkugeln der microball GmbH

Stainless steel mixing balls are ideal for applications where hygiene, corrosion resistance, and material purity are paramount.

They are rust-free, chemically resistant, and therefore perfect for use in sensitive areas such as the food and pharmaceutical industries. Their smooth surface makes them easy to clean and sterilize — a crucial advantage for preventing contamination. Additionally, their mechanical strength ensures a long service life, even with frequent use in demanding mixing processes.

Steel Mixing Balls

Stahlkugeln der microball GmbH

Steel mixing balls stand out due to their high weight and
robustness, making them particularly efficient in mixing
processes. They are used both in liquids and pasty media
and are well suited for demanding applications — such as in
the chemical industry or technical coatings. Even aggressive
substances like acids or solvents pose no problem for them.
Whether a steel mixing ball is the optimal choice depends on
the properties of the medium and the desired mixing result.
